Class 1 at West Chinnock enjoyed Forest School in the sunshine this week, creating pond creatures from clay and natural materials, with a bit of extra time to make a train!

Yesterday's West Chinnock Pinkery adventures. Year 3 joined Years 4-6 for the day. Great fun was had by all! Year 3 are back in school today, Year 4-6 return in time for the end of school today.

Lots of excitement this morning as the Y4, 5 and 6 pupils from West Chinnock set off for their annual residential trip to Pinkery. They will be experiencing many outdoor activities such as orienteering, hill walking and den building over the next few days. Y3 will be joining them for a day’s experience later in the week. Hopefully the sun will stay shining!

Following the installation of new alarms in both schools. Norton had a practice Lock Down today. All external doors and windows were secured, blinds pulled down and children and staff went under the tables. This is part of our safety procedures to keep children safe in the event of an external threat. Pupils were excellently behaved during the practice. West Chinnock’s turn later this week.

West Chinnock have enjoyed taking part in Usborne's 'Ready, Steady, Read' competition and enjoyed a visit from the Usborne book fair on Wednesday afternoon. We raised over £300 for new school books!

Well done to our Year 3/4 gymnasts who competed in the Yeovil Schools Gymnastics Competition at Yeovil College this morning. Our A team won the competition, coming first out of 19 schools and have qualified for the County Finals in May. Well done to all of our gymnasts!

We celebrated World Maths Day at West Chinnock by taking part in an online Mathletics competition, using Class iPads and laptops. Children from Class One and Two worked in pairs to work on fractions, measurement and place value.
